Anybody following this?

I've only been able to read bits and pieces about this and really don't see what the problem is...other than a few million in kickbacks I don't see why they can't settle it and get back on the ice...

Old hockey players never die...they just take Off-ice jobs when they retire...

i dont know what the F is going on but i wish they would fix. if it goes on much longer, they'll have to cancel the season.

i think it's just like the NFL and NBA lockouts, players want more money, owners dont want to pay them

Yeah, I tried locking out a girlfriend once...she said "Get the puck out of here"...so I did...

Where is the empowerment of the fans? We could cause such a ruckus that they'd have to concede...let's all go to our local arena and protest...wear goalie masks and carry chain saws...lol

From what I read, the hockey players want more revenue from sales(team logo shirts, sweaters, etc...) in addition to their salaries-

Yeah, that much I read about...it doesn't seem like enough to warrant losing a whole year of salary over though...or they could agree to a shorter term with no increase in those revenues with a clause to be negotiated at the end of the new contract...that's what I'd shoot for...

What's hockey? Sorry Mark, not me. Now if it were football, we'd have a riot on our hands.
Haha...yeah, Dallas Stars...or did they move out of Texas? I lost track of all the team city swaps long ago...but they used to be the Minesota North Stars long ago...and they were one of my favourite alternative teams...someone to root for when the Leafs took up golf for the summer...

It's the fault of owners and players. I don't feel bad for either one though. They were making millions either way. We are the ones getting screwed. I've lost all hope for a season this year. Neither side is wanting to compromise. This is the worst thing possible for a sport that was already not very popular in America.

Thankfully for those who need a fix, we have a very good collage team here. Get a lot of Canadians who come down to play, quite a few end up staying. Some very good high school programs also. A few town even have big "Pond Hockey" tournaments, that is played outside in any weather with very few rules. Bill Ford Jr used to come over with a Ford team to play.

Looks like they may be salvaging the season after all...now the Leafs have a real chance at making the playoffs because they always do better during the second half of the season...:yahoo:

Failing is easy. Everyone can do it.
I'm reminded by something George Carlin said: Hockey is NOT a sport. Anything played using a "puck" that looks like it came out of a urinal isn't a sport!. Hockey is just ice skating, kicking a urinal puck around..and beating the &hit out of each other.
