I joined cause I'm an off road enthusiast, and am currently helping a friend of mine complete a duraspark conversion and carb swap on his 84 ranger..
Got an Autolite 2100 carb free (in good shape so I'm throwing a rebuild through it)
Also got an old distributor off an 85 ranger (TFI I know), it has all of the cut outs and castings for putting 70's era guts in and since I like building/modifying/customizing/etc... I am looking through the random parts I have to see if I can make something work...
One question though; can you run the TFI without the SPOUT and PIP (I understand it will not have timing advance) and make it run this way?
On the same note; I noticed that the distributor has the same casting as a duraspark distributor. With a little creativity couldn't you add the vacuum advance parts from another distributor to where the hall sensor reads the "windows" on the distributor shaft, and have a vacuum solenoid "adjust" its position as needed for your advance?
Thanks,
Dustin
