My right side front axle/cv shaft has an oil leak, more like a weep, but there is oil there and I am not sure where it is coming from. From under the truck I can see what looks like a shaft from the dff that the CV shaft meets. Right where the CV shaft would insert into this shaft from the diff I have oil. It doesn't smell like gear oil and the CV boot and all parts around the inner CV are dry/oil free. It seems to be coming from where the CV shaft is inserted to the diff shaft.

Is there a seal there? If so, what oil is leaking, diff fluid? Can the seal be replaced?

Yes there is a seal there, keeps the gear oil in the differential. You need to remove shaft and pop out the old oil seal and install a new one.

Crap I was afraid of that. Taking the shaft out looks like an unfun PITA. Thanks.
