Here's the deal. I have a 1994 ford ranger xlt ext cab 4x4 five speed. It has cruise and all the power options. Well one day coming home from work the cruise was cutting in and out. So i shut the cruise off until i got home. Tried using the cruise the next day and it was fine. Then on my way home from work it completely pooped out. No cruise. I have replaced the servo canister the cruise module and checked the rear abs wheel speed sensor all good. Also my abs light is on and the code says its "Loss of hyrualic fluid during anti lock brake stop." What's the deal?! ANY insight would be alot of help. I know that the brake pressure sensor on the master cylinder might be out but i've checked both the clutch pedal position censor and brake pedal switch both are fine. Any info you have would be awsome to get this cruise workin again. You can reply here or partin_us_99@yahoo.com or get at my cell phone. Seven six 5 eight 81 zero 679 Thanks so much fellow rangermen.

Yea plenty of fluid in the mastercylinder thats what baffels me i think that it's either the brake switch on the master cylinder. But im not 100% sure so i didnt wanna take off the master cylinder and it not fix the issue ya know. Im also thinkin about replacing the cruise control amplifier behind the glove box but idk if that'd fix the cruise or not since the cruise is also tied into the abs system. I replaced the module and the switches on the steering wheel as well as the vacuum canister but the problem still persists. Im at whits end as to what might be the culprit

Change out the sensor on the master cylinder. If this sensor goes bad, especially if there's water in the brake fluid, it can corrode the switch and keep the cruise from working because the system always thinks that particular sensor is always tripped, i.e., it "thinks" you always have your foot on the brake.

Basically, after enough time, and enough neglect with the brake fluid, enough water can get into the system through heating and cooling to bridge the electrical contacts in the sensor.

To tell if you have too much water in the brake fluid, get a multimeter and set it for 10 volts DC (or the equivilant). Put one probe in the fluid, one probe on the master cylinder body. If you get a reading of 0.3 V, change out the fluid for fresh fluid. You have too much water in the system; this is actually dangerous because under hard braking, the water in the fluid will vaporize, taking fluid pressure with it. As a result, you'll have a spongy pedal and have no idea why.
