Okay, i searched the Forums and the Tech Library and came up empty. I'm no author, so if nothing else if this gets somebody else to do this and make a better write up, then great. But heres what i threw together pretty quickly.

Purchased a throttle cable from Tractor Supply Company

I used a Linch pin as a handle for now, but will be replacing it very soon, once i find somethign that works better as a handle.

:c-n:

the whole set-up and parts set me back less then $15-$20 and works great when you only wish you could have a 3rd foot while manuevering

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"

spring return on that hand throttle or can you tighten something to hold it at a certain setting?

the return springs of the throttle body is more then enough to return the hand throttle back. I wasn't gonna spend $45 on any part of it. I'm cheap, so a $20 or less investment into setting it up was more then enough for me.

actually since i couldn't find any info on TRS about making a hand throttle, i hope somebody see this, makes a better one, and does a better write-up. I just hopped to spark interest in the better fabricators of TRS to make one better and show us how.

i dont know how well this helps but this is a throttle for a construction excavator, its got friction pads on it like brake pads and you just push and pull it to adjust the throttle.

this is something ive been interested in making for some time, kind of a back burner project.

my dad used a thumb gear shifter for a mountain bike on his '68 bronco. these are nice because they have a finger-operable screw that can be tightened to make it a friction throttle, or loosened to make it a spring-return throttle.

that was the idea :)
Well lets just say, more than likely, something like this will be incorporated onto my rig. May be a little different though(depends on what I have to work with)

I have been wanting to do somthing like this for some time. I was planning on using a pedal bike front derailer shifter.

Dear CheapThrills

Good job. Looks good, and effective. As always your ambition and tenacity in the garage puts me to shame, lol.

Many years ago, I used a lawn mower throttle and cable on the Mutant pony. It stayed wherever you put it but would only raise the RPM to about 1200 rpm. I have since removed it. I think the bicycle shifter would work good, They have a little wing nut type thing that you can tighten to hold position.
