I have a 92 Ford Ranger, trailer leveling kit(3.5") and its sitting on 31-10.5 tires. Every time I go to take off there's a slight grinding sound. It only happens in first, and only when the clutch is almost all the way released. Mind you it could be the cleanest takeoff and it'll still do it. I have no idea what the problem could be, and it's slightly worrying me. As grinding noises usually aren't ideal

Sounds like it's coming from the font, near the transmission

Perhaps you should have a good look at the engine and transmission mounts. Could easily be the movement of these parts making the noise.

It's a grinding / rattling noise. Coming near the front of the truck. Only happens during a low rpm range at a take off

My credo
Love Thy Neighbor
Brake calipers sticking...wheel bearing...heat shield on passenger side...

I had something similar that I thought was my transmission...turned out to be the left wheel bearing...which decided to disintegrate at highway speeds...

Check the front wheels for play by jacking one up at a time and prying up on it with a long pry bar or wood...there might not be much movement but any is not good...but it could also be ball joints or tie rods with that movement.

For the calipers...or front brakes in general...does it feel like it is pulling left or right when stopping or dragging when you take off?
