Black all the way. Plus it's cheaper than having it chromed the right way.

I voted yes but the holes are wayyyyyyyyyy too small. If ya live in Nome it would be ok but if you have any hot weather I'd open it up! I'm not sure black with the chrome surround would work. Maybe polish it up. Chrome would be a little much.

I just had a thought, has anyone made diamondplate tubing?

Also, I've been staring at this thing trying to figure out a tasteful way that it could have more holes poked in it for airflow without looking like swiss cheese.

i was just talking about leaving the chrome around the middle that i made not chroming it and i am going to try to put some more holes in it to keep it cool it got hot today :icon_twisted:

I certainly don't want to discourage people from trying new things, but I think by the time you put enough holes in that thing to let enough air through you would barely be able to tell you started with tread plate.

I'd suggest using the already existing holes to make slits, lets in me air and still leaves larger spaces of the metal as opposed to continuing to drill evenly spaced holes.

it isnt the prettiest but its still self made. like others said maybe do some draw ups to see the best way to open up them holes:) maybe some really cool mesh wire for the grille. omfg ya, then all the other grilles will be jealous!
