Looked for a proper forum, but since I have a 93 2.3 and I keep seeing the leaky fill hose issue popping up.....
In California they passed a new test that older cars need to have their fuel systems leak tested.
They check the cap, then put a adapter on the filler neck and pressurize with nitrogen and it has to hold for so many seconds.
Quick Redneck pre test.
Get a plastic T fitting (1/4" ?), unplug the tank vent to the carbon canister,
Put a balloon on one leg, and a hand pump or air brush compressor on the other leg
Fill the balloon, let it leak down and fill the tank, takes a few times.
I made a adapter and use a AC manifold so I can seal the air in.
Just need something to seal the pump side
IF the balloon stays full for a half hour your cap is good and so is the rest of your system ,
If not start with the cap, then break out the spray bottle of soapy water.
You dont want the mech to do it unless your rich
And be mindful that the balloon and and vapors coming out of that hose are flammable .
