I hope i'm in the right place for this...
I have a 84 ranger reg cab, long bed, duel tank, efi 302. I need to swap out my carb fuel tank for one with a built in lift pump. Does anybody know what will interchange with my truck? I think 86-88 ranger tanks will work but I cannot find a clear answer. LMC truck lists a mess or tanks and sending units but their info is not very clear. Any help is much appreciated.

an '85-88 main tank will get you there, but check out your local Checker/shucks/Kragen/Advanced/Etc and check the price there
for the main tank. LMC's prices tend to be a bit high.

As for the Aux tank, the aux tank for a ranger is "unobtanium"
SFAIK so is the sender unit.

Thank you. This is exactly the type of information I was looking for. I will check with checker (where I live), and see what they have to offer for this. However, if I decide to order from LMC truck exactly which one would work? And oddly the 85 tanks use a seperate part number. Even more mind boggling which pickup/sender to go with it?

Link straight to fuel tank page in LMC catalog: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fr/full.aspx?Page=111

If they list a different P/N for an '85 that could be for a different filler
tube OR the larger sender hole....

I'd recommend an '86-88 to avoid those issues.

I HATE using parts that were "one year only" and can't recommend
using them to others...

Update. I got my new fuel tank and sending unit from LMC truck. Everything went together pretty much as I had expected. The location of the sending unit in the tank was in the same spot as my old one, but the tank vent was located further towards the back. That was an easy fix.

One thing I noticed is the fuel tanks LMC truck sells are thin and cheap (at least mine was). Doesn't take much to put dimples and dents in them. Thank god I have a skid plate protecting it.

The truck starts easier now and doesn't feel like it's starving of fuel when getting on the freeway. I hope I stop burning through fuel pumps now by having a lift pump.
