Hello all,

Quick question...so something is up with my fuel level guage and temperature guage. Majority of the time nether of them work. But every once in a blue moon the will both work. I figure it is a bad ground. Anyone know where that is located? Since they work and dont work together i figure its not the sending unit.

Thanks for the help
Nate

More likely the ivr as both of the sender are reference to ground.

the instrument voltage regulator supplies voltage to the gauges and the other side of the gauge sends out a signal to the sender which varies it's resistance relative to ground, be it temperature or fuel level.

okay thanks martin. so is the ivr something that can be replaced? where is it located? could it be the ignition switch? because since i first posted this the radio has become tempormental. but when i wiggle the key around the radio fuel and temp guage will begin to work. then whenever it pleases they will turn off.

Sounds like you've narrowed it down to the switch.
