2000 Ranger 4x4 3.0 I noticed in the fall when I had the back drive shaft out I was
checking out vibration . I was driving with just the front drive shaft in .If I gave it to much gas the front would jump out . Not sure whats going on. Now in the winter if I'm giving it a lot of gas the front kicks out . Any ideas ?

If the front is disengaging, there are only two places that can happen ... the hubs and the transfer case.
The hubs have nylon or pot metal gears, check them first. They are easiest to check, too. If the spline tips are not sharp along the full length of the ridge, it could be the problem. The other problem is with the click lock that engages and disengages the hubs. Any wear there could cause problems, as well as any broken plastic in that part of the mechanism.
Replacement with AVM manual hubs is easy and worth every penny.
The transfer case could have worn gearing, though on a 2000, it is not likely. I think you have to pull the transfer case and crack the case to check them.

Oh, you got a 92. Not PVH, then. Maybe autolocks or manual hubs worn out? Same answer, get new manual hubs. Warns are a direct fit to your truck.

Ps, srteach, the 99 and 2000 are my trucks. Innocent enough mistake, though. Happens to me all the time. He's got a 92.

The 2000 ranger I have must be the one that was made latter. It doesn't have any hubs as far as I can tell it is all done threw the the transfer case. I looked it up the best I can its like a 2001 and up. Doesn't seem to be a lot of information on my particular problem. The toughest thing about it is I wouldn't have known what it's doing if I hadn't dropped the rear shaft last fall to check out the vib. problem. Any other ideas ?

Whats the mfg date on your door sticker? If it's after either july or august of 00, It's got a live front axle. Only some 2000's had the live axle.
