It was easy to rag on it earlier. I was pretty disgusted.

But thinkIng back when the big wad of broken belts went into the chamber the conveyer stopped. The twine arm dropped and slowly came back up. And it fully opened to try to kick out "the bale"

I didnt have string in it but the actual mechanism did exactly what it was supposed to do.

Would a brand new Deere or Vermeer do any better with 70 year old belts falling apart everywhere?

That is pretty slick Ranger, I thought so earlier too.
Not likely anything here would ever click around and drop a bale ;)

My Father's Tractor, A 1937 John Deere

But of course there's Mom's tractor too, without which we wouldn't fare as well. I'm not sure about the others but I believe at least one belonged to my grandmother, the pink one in the center is one my father bought her at Montgomery Wards in 1962, just after we had moved to Ft Worth

It had a PTO on back but some enterprising neighbor sold it while we were away

It had a take off on the side for a belt to power other machines

An old Sulkey Rake, I believe originally horse drawn

And the old hay baler, with a 2 cylinder gas engine. We used to play on this when we were kids, we could spin the wheel and make the packer go up and down, wonder we hadn't baled each other up

They'd rake the mowed hay into piles or rows and pull the baler up beside it and hand fork the grass into the baler

The belt pulley on the side of the Deere also contains the clutch for the engine.

That thing would be fun to get going. Unstyled G's are not super common.

Anyway I pushed the easy button and made hay while the sun was shining.

No I can return it back yo it's owner and starting getting ready for the trip... after I pick up up all the bales.

That is used to convert money into heat in the house during winter. It's about average size.

Got a lot done on the chicken house this weekend. windows -in, side entry door framed and functional. Chicken door to run area cut out and slides made, hook for now but could make it a rope/pulley or automatic system later.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Not too much done today, collected a few things at yard sales that will be useful, Put up the plywood for the partition wall seperating the feed room from the bird area, got a good start on the nesting box, Its back to my day job tomorrow so nothing is going to happen for a few days. Heres a veiw through the front entry door into the feed room.
