I still didn't get the explorer home today:dunno: but I did get the 33s on it and its ready to load on the trailer in the am.
It's looking way better with the new wheels/tires on it.

Also managed to score an older Ramsey RE8000 with cable and roller fairlead for 50$

Wow! Another nc4x4.com member. I wish I could have found the explorer before you did. As far as the front goes, there is not alot can be done. You can try and find the torsion rods off a sport track to help.

the explorer is about to explode......We raised a little hell in it today. I think the 22re in my little beater truck has more power than this thing. It's bellowing oil smoke....looks like it's gonna get parted out
I shouldve bought a Cherokee:dunno:

Go over to explorerforum.com and do some reading before you do that. The 5.0 thats in that thing is just about bullet proof. There may be something over there to help you out.

I don't think that much reading can help the fact that either the rings or the valve seals are gone and it seems to have a pretty good bottom end rattle.
I sold the rear axle for 100, cut the cats off, sold the wheels and tires, removed the trans cooler, ps cooler, then sold the remainder for what I paid for it.
I did pretty good.
