I have a 93 Ranger 4.0, 5 speed with electric t case which id like to swap out for a manual tcase since I'm having trouble getting into 4low and the wiring under my truck looks like a cobbled shit show with lots of zip-ties. What model manual tcase am I suppose to be getting? Is it a direct bolt it? A friend on mine is giving me a manual tcase w/o linkage out of an early 90s explorer, that's all i know about it. There are several listed for sale ($75-$150) with linkage near me though but I'm not sure what I need. Thanks all!

You need a 1354, which an early 90's explorer would've had. Check the tech library to read about the differences between the 1350 and the 1354.

The shifter linkage should be the same from 89-97. You could take it from a Ranger, Explorer, or B2.

I believe the explorer tcase is a 1350 since it doesn't have a yoke for the front dshaft, I'll have to keep looking for a 1354...

Make sure the end of the linkage has the little rubber "D" in it that fits on the arm of the t-case, otherwise it won't work.

I want to say no, but I am not positive. My stuff came out of a 5 speed and went into a 5 speed. The only issue I ran into was my tcase didn't have the little shifter arm on it. I had to get one off of a 1350. I had to switch the side the pin was on to make it work, and that was it. That does make me think now that a 1350 shifter won't work on a 1354.

Will everything else bolt up? so as long as i get the case, linkage, and front driveshaft, I will be able to switch over to manual 4x4? Is there any benefits to have the 1354 vs. 1350?

i like them both, but prefer fixed yolks with driveshaft slips. in the case of the 1350 they wount leak if you pull the front shaft and have a angle advantage.

you may have to swap rear flange to keep your rear driveline, but with the matched front driveline you should be good to go. unless the 54 comes up soon and is cheaper.

I can find manual 1350s all day long up here with linkages, where as the 1354s are almost impossible to find with linkages. I think my best bet would be to just grap a 1350 and a driveshaft and be done with it.
