hey i know this is a dumb question but like i said i need to confirm quickly, can give an explanation later but here is it is..

currently running 33X12.50, if i keep off 4x4 stick with only road driving on 2wd hubs unlocked can i run 33X10.50's up front? same height but different width.

i know you cant run different heights but cant remember if widths are as important. thanks guys.

Width doesn't matter.

Only concern is the roll out measurement (height/ circumference)

Wait a minute... Your question was about running in 2wd...

Front to rear tire differences do not matter while in 2wd. You could run 33"s up front, and 44"s in the back. Or vice versa, just don't even think about locking it in 4wd.

hah, thanks urban redneck, im getting two new tires to replace 1 flat and 1 bald, i want to run thinner tires because im rubbing raduis arms when i turn close to lock. and i don't want to run spacers(stock axles &hubs) if the width was a problem i would end up getting a total of 4 smaller street tires that i would run untill i had enough to get the real size and make i want and then sell/trade the streets = more hassle later. buuut! since it doesnt matter i can get the 33X10.50's i want:icon_thumby:

yeah running in 2wd. although if i get stuck in snow i might have to but i know the height difference would matter in 4wd.

Why would you not want to lock 4x4?

Why would you worry bout rubbing arms? My truck has a spotless perfect shine on both of my arms. Your tires shouldn't break or hurt the arms if they rub. If I can drive on the street without problems (hitting the arms on a turn) you will be fine. They only touch at full lock.

they are rubbing the side nubs off my tires and helped cause the flat in one of them. on the street i have no problem, but when i go out on the trails around here its very tight, some times i have to keep it to the point of rubbing to make it between trees or rocks, or spent 20 mins making a 97point turn..
but everything is sorted out now, thanks for the reassurance on the with matter. just had a brain fart and needed someone to clarify.

Well for my 2 cents because of the difference in width of the tires the fronts will be just a smidge shorter but you probably wouldn't notice. It's the width of the tire the 12.5 -10.5 = 2. Where do you think the 2 goes? Some is out the sides but some is up.

I've been there.
My swampers got lugs half tore off by the radius arms, then later on a rock or branch or something got into the tear which punctured the tire.

Also, the width does effect the height, slightly. Wheel width makes a difference too, slightly.
If there is a concern, just measure the "LTR", loaded tire radius, easily measured from the rim to the ground. If they are close, it can be adjusted via air pressure.
