Can someone tell me what the black hose is supposed to go to? I found it yesterday; it's cut off at the end (not plugged)...maybe when someone modified the A/C?

What is the sensor it's connected to? Found a piece of metal hose/pipe that someone crimped off coming from under the motor...not sure where it goes to - need to dig deeper to see...

That there belongs to the emissions portion of your truck. Worthless in my opinion unless your state requires it to be there.

Part of the air injection for the catalytic converter. If you must pass smog, you need it - otherwise it is just taking space as you describe it. It will not affect the performance of the engine if not there.

Thanks for the info. Don't know what I'll do with it...just leave it for now until I can figure out whether to reconnect it or just leave it be.

Don't need it today (SC doesn't smog test).

I don't generally support the disabling of emissions control devices.

AIR pumps are of marginal benefit. Belt driven ones tend to hurt more than they help.

If he is asking what it is then he is more than likely not the one who disconnected the emission system. I will take a guess and say that he bought it that way. Obviously it is an eye sore now and can be removed as there are probably no parts available for it any more to hook it back up correctly.

Yeah I would remove it, mine was the same way and was blowing out hot air under the hood. Overheated two tfi modules before deciding to get rid of the pump and switch to duraspark.

The valve it connects to is the thermactor it switches air flow from the air pump to either the cat or the crossover on the back of both exhaust manifolds. It is wasting space if the air pump has been terminated. the crossover on the back of both heads has a check valve that must be plugged so it is not sucking air if not you will cook the valves.

The crossover looks like this and bolts on the back of both heads that hose your talking about goes to the crossover.

Thanks for the info; I didn't remove it originally. I found it because after I did the water pump I was looking under the hood and saw hot air coming out of the black hose. So, I pulled up on it to see that it was cut.

I'll go looking for the metal hose - I think this is the one that looks like someone crimped over with a pair of pliers...I'll dig into tomorrow when it gets light out again - perhaps a pic or 2 with the camera will help me trace it better.
