going to get a Mac for the next one. run a dual boot with moc os and windows........ hopefully I can find a copy of 2000 ......... XP and Vista will not be on my next lap top. the boxes in the office run Linux (not sure which version ........ its the penguin one I think)

My keyboard has the "hibernate" key right next to the "escape" key and so I end up hitting the wrong one half the time. It sucks, because there's NOTHING you can do to stop the computer from going all the way to hibernation once you press it.

If you're running Windows XP, you can turn hibernation off permanently. If you go to the control panel, then under Power Options, there is a checkbox to enable hibernate under the hibernate tab. Just uncheck it, and reboot.

There is a way to do it in Vista too so if you're running that let me know.

Remap the keyboard...make the 8 above the keyboard into an a...then you can always use the numeric pad for typing the 8...

I believe you can. or atleast get a docking station. I can plug a monitor and keyboard into mine. Often when i am feeling lazy I plug it into the 42" LCD in the bedroom and use a wireless keyboard and mouse to surf from my bed ........ kinda like i am doing now.......

You can do that??? damn i am so jealous!!! i have a laptop, desktop and wireless router, how do i make mine work on the tv???

On my wife's laptop our damn cat stole the space bar. now there is just a little button to hit and no bar. it took us two weeks to find the space bar. the cat took it under the couch. but my laptop is good as new.

Thanks Shran. I haven't had a problem with the damn hibernation button in a while. The only time I ever use the escape key is when I play games and I haven't done those in a while.

I used to play a lot of computer games but I destroyed too many input devices. I even took out a couple computer cases...I was seriously considering anger management for a while so that I wouldn't have to buy a new mouse every other week.
