CYLINDER 6 MISSFIRE This is what the tester says.Ford in El Centro told me I had low compression on Cyl. 6 & I needed to buy two $500 heads. My people in San Diego said they lied. They're doing more testing today(Tunecraft).Compression is fine.I was just looking for some input.

Because the computer expects the TDC at a certain time, low(er) compression can produce a lag in rotation that is coded as a misfire.

Do you have the actual compression numbers?

If not compression then fuel or ignition - just have to troubleshoot and test.

Solved

My Cylinder 6 misfire was caused by a broken valve spring. The repair was a lot cheaper!!!!! than what Ford in El Centro wanted me to do.I do some repairs myself, but right now I'm very greatful for Tunecraft in San Diego(La Mesa)

Thanks for the update :icon_thumby:

In fairness to El Centro they probably were basing their opinion on the year of the 3.0l, there was a known issue of exhaust valve recession, just a bad batch of heads in those years('02-'06), fix was to replace both heads with newer versions.

Or they could have been ripping you off, lol.

In any case removing the valve cover would be the only way to spot valve train issue, dealers won't do that on diagnosis, independents will.
