My ranger is a bare bones 2.5 liter 5 speed manual. I sort of miss the cruise I had on the F-150, and want to add it to the Ranger. I'm looking for an aftermarket unit as I really can't afford (dollars and down time) to change the column and everything to have a factory unit installed. Has anyone done that, and if so what brand did you use?
Thanks,

I've installed about a dozen of them, and they all worked flawlessly. It has been a number of years since I did one, so I can't remember the brand- but maybe I have an old box laying around somewhere and I can get you the info. I used to buy the kits from Cossey automotive in Indianapolis- but last time I tried to look up the number it couldn't be found- he might be out of business. Not much help, was I?

The kits do work, aren't too hard to install, and the control arm looked close to factory. If you can find a kit I say go for it!

the grey-t escape
i had one years ago on a '88 2.3 2wd s/c. been so long that i dont recall a brand or price. worked well, just remember that you dont have alot of torque with a 4 cyl and you may have to kick it off and downshift to 4rth if youre coming up on a long upgrade.

Actually you were some help. Got me to thinking, and remembered that I had installed a kit from Sears on my '79 Turbo Mustang. That was a 4 speed (i think). It was pretty easy to install and adjust. Looks like I'm going to start looking in my spare time. Not a priority, just something in the back of my mind.

If looks aren't your main concern, you could just find a throttle assembly from a tractor or lawnmower, or even a choke from an old truck (I did this on my old 83 F150.....I miss that truck so much.....) I dont know if it will work on a Fuel Injected vehicle as simply as on a Carbed. Dont see why it wouldn't though....

Try JC Whitney they sell several different styles and they aren't that expensive.

I'm thinking of doing this also and would like more input. Has anyone used the Audiovox units. Also, would I need a vacuum accumulator for a 4 cylinder?
