I have an 86 Ford Ranger 6cyl, 2.9L. Yesterday on the highway I set it on cruise control and about 20 minutes of that, it just suddenly took itself OFF cruise control. I thought it was a fluke. So, I tried it again. It worked fine for a while, then it did it again.

Any ideas what this might be?

Virtually any problem with cruise will result in it simply turning off.

So no, we can't know what's wrong from that description.

But, are most of the problems that have to do with cruise control, generally electrical?
