have to resize the pics i took....but i am too lazy.:thefinger:

the b pillar was gone on the drivers side....split right off the floor with rot and basically the roll bar was holding the roof up.....base of a pillars needed rework...and upper a pillar on passenger side is gone....never really open that door so i did not realize how bad it was.

you know....no biggie...just hack and slash some rusty old shit in from the scrap pile to get by.... no argon and i only got 035 flux core so its going to suck....

well driving it the other day i noticed the brake pedal felt weird...and when i hybrid the clutch line i remember seeing the base plate split a little.

so yeah.....cut the cage out and rip the dash out....and and and.....

:icon_rofl: tired now....maybe resize a pic or 7 later so you can figure out how much caulk to buy:shok:

the sad thing, is the only reason they rot is because of seam sealer....
A little dab of that stuff dried up and blew away on the bottom of a seam belowing the DS bottom of the windshield... and it screwed up the base of my A pillar and my floor pan. :bawling:

Like a 1/4" of seam, I would almost say it never had any but that seems unlikely. :dntknw:

a pillar......upper passenger:shok: drivers side is completed now and total project is 2/3rd done. which is about 3 times the planned work...that "looked like needed doinz" running out of shitty sheet metal scrap though....

welding junk old sheet metal with flux core is a giant pia. if i wasnt laid off i would have spent 400 on gas and steel which would have knocked off allot of time and prep wheels. if i did not have a stock pile of shit i would have been screwed.

but this b2 did/does get whooped pretty bad.

well...the point is it can/will look good on the outside..(firewall)..but rain all over inside.

with the fenders and dash/flooring shit on there its not possible to see whats up...

the suk here.....eventually this will get a ecoboost 4 whizzer or vw tdi...

and i will want to completely fab a distinct floor and firewall at that point.

I might do exactly that, or throw a rubber floor down....

Either way, since bobbys pics had me worried about as bad as reading web MD about the cause of your headache...

I went down to the shop where its at to get other stuff done (theyve had it a week and aint moved it, par for them) and checked out what i could...

The floors wernt *that* wet even after the hellacious amounts of rain weve had in the past week, the cowl pan looks decent (what i could see), i was able to slide my hand between the fender and cab, and atleast the top felt solid.

There is some firewall rot thats obvious, the corners of the cowl under the hood, and around the heater box/heater hose entry to cab.

Whats odd though, is the carpet is wet, but the sound deadning shit inside the cab directly above the carpet is dry...

Ill look into it, but untill it starts making my boots float i pry wont worry to much.

FWIW the factory rubber floor still has the sound insulation that makes for a pretty decent sponge.
