I have an 86 ranger 2wd, I am wanting to lower it. I am going to heat the springs/ cut them (I know not advised) then ride it around for awhile to make sure the new height will work with where i live. I am wondering what years I can get the springs out of. Is it 83-88 only or 83-92 or 83-97. The junkyards are slim on 1st gens but I have seen a few 93-97 trucks.

I think you typed one thing but were thinking another. You basically said: "I'm going to cut the springs and ride. What years can I get the springs out of?"

Are you asking if the springs from any of those years will fit in your truck?

Yes. The springs can interchange. If you check out Napa's website you can see the coil part numbers correspond to 93-97.

EDIT: Just remember that the spring rate will probably be different for engine combo/cab size but they'll all be 3"ID and roughly 10 coils. Extended cab springs will be a higher rate.

I basically need to know if 89-97 Springs will work in an 86. I want to have an extra set in case it sits to low so I can put it back to stock ride height.
