I was just wondering how many miles have you got on your original clutch? Mine has 162,365 and not slipping. It has the 2.3.

Mine's got 154,000 an still feels fine. Had a friend who had a '91 Explorer 4-banger w/ 175,000 on when he sold it, still on the factory clutch.

It all depends on how you drive. If you ride the clutch, it's life will be shorter.

In mine, it's rare I shift above 3,000 RPM's, nor do I drop the clutch at redline.

It's all a factor of how it's been driven....

My Ranger is around 90k and the clutch is still good.

My choptop has around 100k and it's still got a good clutch.

My F-150 supposedly had 69k on it when I bought it... 4k later and I was replacing a toasted clutch. (I'd be really curious to see what Carfax/Autocheck has to say about the mileage of this thing)

Dad's '79 F-150 has 62k on the original clutch.... and on the rest of the truck, lol

Dad's '89 F-350 dump had a guy abuse the clutch (start out in second pulling a 4-ton machine), but it's go 105k on the original clutch

Dad's '94 F-350 dump has 118k on the original clutch (the motor, however, is dead)

My original clutch went out around 100K. She is now on her 4th clutch. Original, then I shredded the second one learning to drive on it, that took about 15,000 miles. #3 went about 70K and wasn't is terrible shape, I just replaced it to go up to the 10 inch when I replaced my transmission. No sense in taking the tranny off a 70K clutch and not putting a new one in, you know?

My uncle's 86 jetta had the original clutch in it still when the engine blew around 200K

My one buddy from high school was going up a hill not too far from my house in his jetta with just over 300K when the factory clutch just gave out, no warnings, but that car was used for years by his dad as a coast-to-coaster. Went PA to Cali at least once a month for 5 or 6 years.

Explorer 4-banger? There's no such thing.

I got 200,000km on the stocker, and it got abused and really burnt when I swamped it once. Got 85km on the second one, and it's going strong with no sign of giving up....37's and all.

you could get them for a few years. They were all special order units though.
I won't believe that until I actually see one.

Its quite well documented on here. There are a number of people who independently claim to either have owned, or known some who owned a special or fleet order Explorer 2.3L stick, some 4x4, some 4x2.
