So I apologize if this has been covered, I tried searching both here and google and couldn't find the answer. I have an 87 4wd extended cab ranger. It had a no spark issue and the previous owner butchered the wire harnes trying to trouble shoot. I would like to start clean and just buy a new harness for the engine side of things and my question is this: did the wireing change through the years of the 2.9? Does it matter if the new harness comes from a ranger or BII? Thanks for your help.

The wiring did change some over the years. It doesn't matter if it came from an Ranger or BII, but it needs to come from the 89-92 years, so something with the same front end style as your truck.

The 86 and 87 have the same front end. The 86 is the first year of efi.

So can I run an 86-87 harness or does it have to be an 87?
