I wanted to install an adjustable camber/caster bushing in my 89 B2... MOOG part K80153, but they don't fit, they are too big. The old ones just slide in with no problem, and these don't even look like I could pound them in. Am I doing something wrong, or is there another part number I need for this year? If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated, since others seem to have used this part number for other B2's.

Thanks

I referenced the part number and it says that is the proper one for your ride. How much too big is it? Is it possible that you need to open the gap a bit with a wedge of some sort kind of like when you need to spread a battery terminal a bit? If all that is missing is a couple thousandths of an inch that might get it so you can get the new bushings in. Grease them up good when you do it. The ones on my 94 friction fit pretty tight. You have to put a bit of muscle in them to get them to turn with the pinch bolt backed off sufficiently.

Do you know someone who is a machinist....he could measure the parts for you to see if they are really too big or just a VERY tight fit.

I actualyy had to use sandpaper to remove the layer of grime in the hole once I knocked out the OEM bushing and also had to use a flat chisel to widen the notch slightly.

And like Panama said---You might need to take a tapered chisel/put it in the notch & tap it so that the gap opens a little so the new bushing will be able to be tapped into place with a RUBBER hammer or use a flat piece of wood on top of the new bushing to tap the bushing in with a regular hammer.

Like you said---the new bushings might really be too big though.

I bought NAPA adjustable bushings which fit snug when I widened the notch on the new beams...see page 265 in my build-thread for pictures of the swap.

Are you sure you have the correct parts?
I have bought parts that were mis-labled, boxed,etc...from the factory.
Not the fault of the autoparts store...but it seems to happen more at autozone than the others.
not saying this is the problem in your case...but it does happen.

Ok, first I'm gonna sound stupid, but if it fixes it I'll do it. There's a pinch bolt? I didn't even look when the axle was out since the bushings that were already in there just came right out, not tight at all. So I figured they should just slide back in.
Is the pinch bolt something I can get too with the axle and hub still in place I hope? Now that the new ball joint is in I don't wanna have to take all that stuff back out.

Thanks again.

The pinch bolt is right there in front of you when you take the tire off. Look where the bushing goes... then look where the gap is... the pinch bolt goes through a hole that squeezes the gap together to lock the bushing in place.

I don't have a photo handy but I'll bet you can see it in DG's build thread. Or do a quick search on the camber bushings one of the threads will have a pic.

If you have more questions don't hesitate to ask.

If I'm not mistaken, he has a Dana 28. They do not use a pinch bolt. The stud and nut on the upper ball joint holds the camber bushing in place.

Basically all B2s came with a d28 so thats a likely scenario.

I think only the second half of 1990 got anything other than a d28.

Yeah, D28 = no pinch bolt.

K80153 looks like the correct pt# to me also, I would have to agree maybe the bushings are defective (bad batch?) or like someone mentioned, you got wrong parts.

Maybe post some pics and someone might be able to tell exactly what's up with it.

Yep, fully-adjustable (two-piece) bushing.
