It's good to see to many in to CB on here. I will be selling mine. I actually drive a truck and see no value in it with cell phones getting service almost everywhere.

Keyword being almost, and phones cost money and texting while driving is unsafe. Nothing beats the CB for your short over the road conversations. Besides how many random driver on a 1300 miles trip are you giving you number too? Are they gonna call you and tell you where the bears are? Or traffic accidents in your route? When Im southbound northbound is my best friend.

I agree, when I'm eastbound heading home from work westbound is my friend.

KC7JXF. Currently working on mounting an Icom IC-280 into the truck, I've got it modded with a switch and DB-9 port to easily change back and forth between APRS and voice. Running an OpenTracker+ and an old Garmin GPS40 for APRS.

Until I get the Icom in, I've got a ratshack HTX202 lying on the dashboard, for APRS.

Hope to get a 45-foot tower up next summer, too busy rebuilding the house last year.

AE5HL here, have a CB installed in my truck (you have a hell of a time getting weather/road information via 2 meters on the road). I think 6 meters might be a little difficult, but with sunspot conditions improving you might work some serious DX. Why not finish the rest of the exams and go HF? Work QRP exclusively...
