i have the 870 and it works well for everything i need the only issues iv ever had was jamming on the reloads but that was more my error then the gun as i wasnt pulling the pump fully back to clear the 3'' shell before racking the next round in. just looking at the interactive site with the BPS im liking it i have to say. alot of nifty lil things.

but on that same token them nifty things add more to go wrong. the safty i really like though. and they offer from the factory great looking sights. but im sure the guns a bit more spendy then the 870

The Browning BPS is made in Japan.

Nice Shotgun, my brother has two of them, one in 12ga and the other in 10ga.

IF you are looking at using it on migratory birds go for the BPS10
a 10ga kicks ass compared to any 12ga, even the 3-1/2" chambered guns.

That being said my brother also has TWO Remington 870's, one in 12ga the
other in 20ga

what do I have? I have two Remington 870's and a Mossberg 500 all in 12ga.

Now if you told me you were left handed I'd say BPS all the way.
the BPS is a bottom eject shotgun and thus by design is an
ambidexterous firearm.

That is a nice feature to have so you don't have to chase shells around if you shoot it a lot. I try to pick up after myself hunting too, and every once in awhile my 500 launches one or two that I can't find.

I agree with AllanD. If you reload or are ambidexterous, the Browning is the one. Mainly since you don't have to go find your ejected hulls. I like both guns but I like the convinience of being able to bend over to collect my cases. If I'm not mistaken, FN of Belgium now owns Browning and Winchester. Who knows who owns whom anymore. You'll be happy with either one.

After years of trap shooting I instinctively catch my empties in mid-air
and put them in my shotshell pouch.

I sometimes do it so quickly that people shooting with me are looking on
the ground for my fired hulls before realizing there aren't any...

As for the 10 gauge, a lot of the farms/ plantations around here and some wma's do not allow bigger than 20 for anything but deer/ turkey. I have a remington 870 now, but it;s old I have my great grandfathers reciept here somewhere for it bought somehwere in the 50's it may not be a 870 but it's a remington pump, think he paid around $75 for it new from a local store that still here, but no longer sells guns or ammo.

That works. What happens when you shoot doubles?

By the way AD, do you mind if I PM you to ask a question?

what double barrels? same rules some do not want bigger than 20 gauge. I am looking for a new one because my great grandfathers is starting to show its age, i know it's had over a million rounds through it, but has been carefully maintained and has never failed. Was looking at the brownings cause my first gun was a browning .22 lr bolt action, still have it....

Double clay birds while Trap Shooting. Is your Browning 22 a T-bolt? I'm not talking about the new ones, I'm talking about the old ones made in Belgium. If it is the old style, you have to be careful with them. The old T-bolts had stocks that were salt cured and not salt cured. If maintenance was not performed regularly, of course the weapon would rust where the stock touched the metal. I've seen that too many times.
