Bronco II 2.9L fuel pump

So my 86 uses the in tank pump and the frame mounted in line high pressure pump. As of yesterday... they're both inop.

Is there an in tank high pressure pump that fits my sending unit and I can just lluminate the frame mounted high pressure pump?

I'm not sure what year Ford just went with the single pump.

I'm gonna try to research this with parts catalogs... but first hand information will help me decide which way I want to proceed.

My 1990 B2 has the single pump. Not sure what year this changed, but I'll wager a guess that the '89 may be the same (as in both years making up the second generation of the Bronco II).

If I had anything earlier with the dual pumps, and one crapped out, I'd also be looking if it could be converted to the single pump.

I'm a KISS guy; the less stuff that's there, the less things there are that can break.

Hit me up if you need anything looked up in the shop manuals.

I had a early b2 that someone else converted to in tank high pressure pump to feed a 4.0l. Iirc he used a pump from a mustang. There was signs of cutting and filing at the top of the tank. That b2 is long gone.

Another thing I notice is mine has the canister fuel filter with the replaceable element. I'm kind of thinking of changing to the in line fuel filter. Still undecided on that one because I have a new element.

But yes... I just want it simple. I'm probably gonna cut an access hole in the floor while the tank is out too.

Simple is better in my opinion! My old part’s 89 model has a single pump! Nothing on the rail but a filter uncle Gump! Didn’t think they did that on a Bii!

Gump my 88 has the canister as well but I pulled it down to replace said cartridge and it was empty. Cleaned it out, housings new O-ring and reassembled. They left it there on the later years as a sort of reservoir was my understanding but I do still have the inline as well.

So you have an in-line filter or the in-line fuel pump?

OK... but it must have a fuel filter also. Where is that? I don't see any other filter on mine...

I believe it has the regular filter in line as well to be honest I would have to look at it though to not lie... That was months ago I was replacing all of that. Let me dig through my thread see if I can find pics.

Fuel Filter Help

So I dropped my tank today and was blowing out all the lines and checking seals and replacing clips. Of course I had already picked up an inline steel filter, that my Bronco II doesn't have... Any suggestions on this guy? Where I can find a filter for it? Took it off cleaned it up blew fuel out...

I don’t want to block your thread up Gump but while on the subject, what is the pressure supposed to maintain while running/idling/load? Do you know?

I didn't see any other filter on mine.

I ordered an in-tank pump... in-line filter... filter mount bracket and some line and connecters yesterday. I'm just going to use one in-tank high pressure pump... the new in-line filter and take the canister off. Then make custom lines to connect it back up.

What lines are you getting? Just generic rubber lines or a hard plastic like original?

35 to 40. Mine currently has two damn fuel pumps.... and zero pressure.
