hey everybody as you can tell im a new member. I love the site and i read for hours on here everyday but I have a question i cant find an answer too. Im lifting my truck a total of about 8 inches (all suspension lift) :headbang: and i know i need to get new brake lines. my question is do i need to get these expensive braided lines i see on the internet or will normal hoses be ok? i have a buddy that did 2 inch blocks and coil spacer and he went ahead and put new lines on, he used standard black hose. so any advice would be great thanks:D

Standard rubber hose is just fine.

And just so you know, 8" of true suspension lift will handle and drive like absolute crap on our TTB trucks. You are better off going with a 6" kit and a body lift if you want that much lift. The steering just gets too jacked to compensate for without spending mucho money on fancy steering upgrades.

thanks alot man that was fast lol
and its a 6 inch skyjacker. My truck already has the 2 inch coil spacers and i was planning on leaving them on and getting shackles to level the back out for a total of 7.5-8 inches. i was reading yesterday that someone said a 6 inch kit with 8 inch coils is completley different then an 8 inch kit as far as trying to figure out steering for it. in fact i might have seen you in that thread lol
what do you think about this?

I plan to go to rubber lines soon. One of my braided lines has an ugly kink in it right now. I guess a rock smacked it or something, but I'm afraid it's going to blow out on me one of these days.

I think the braided lines are for looks mostly. The rubber brake hoses that run to the calipers normally have a braided layer inside of them for strength.

i agree, mine has a 6" skyjacker actually comes out to 7 " of lift and it kinda scares me on curves since the steering is kinda twitchy, my wife won't even drive it lol hey the pros and cons lol

I used the ones toward the bottom posted by Bob, work fine but need a little modification to the truck, the nuts on the end of the hose need changed to standard (3/8-24 from metric) and you have to add a Tee to the drivers side, the Tee the parts stores works fine if you take a 3/8-24 die to the male threads and countersink the end a little with a large drill bit, I have pics on my photobucket somewhere... it's nice knowing I have off the shelf brake lines, just have to remember they're from a mid '90's Suburban... they come with cheesy brackets in the middle but are easy to remove with a couple screw drivers.

Like most of us have posted here.....Your truck will not like that much lift.....TTB hates to be lifted more then 6 inches. I have a 5 inch lift and a 3 inch bl and I don't need longer brake lines....mine have plenty of length to them.

Another Route u might wanna take is they make a new copper fusion line with carbide fittings on them for the pre-formed lines... these lines are super tough and never rust *EVER*... the kool part about them is that u can bend the lines by hand and are virtually un-kinkable... it was a must upgrade on my truck and im never going back to steel lines again... 6 months and i took the fitting back off with an adjustable wrench with no effort...

He is talking about the flex hoses that go to the calipers...not the hard lines.
