I got my wife an XD-9 for the range and a taurus TCP 380 for CC, because after 50 round no one likes a small 380 as much as when they did started that day. Lol. Ive heard good things about taurus, ruger, and S&W .380's. Another good size CC system is keltecs pf-9, single stack 9mm.

Personally, I like Clint Eastwood's CC, the S&W Model 29 .44 magnum. lol

I say, let her pick whichever handgun she feels comfortable with.

I have heard of .38 caliber pistols, but they are Super .38's used in competition. They are much different than the .38 special revolvers.

Jim in all honesty do not waste your money on a 380 for the wife. They are only good up to maybe 10 ft if your lucky. Just get here a 9mm and she will be good to go.

Why would anyone need more than a .380 for concealed carry??????? Are you serious? Do you know what concealed carry is for....10 yds or less. Learn about concealed carry laws before you give bad advice again.
Ruger LCP or a Keltec .380 is all you need for personal protection.
No sense in packing something that can do all kinds or collateral damage.

If you hit what you are shooting at it shouldn't really matter. A .380 will still do a lot of harm if you miss.

I can't see a 9mm blowing blowing through a well placed hit and causing vast damage after that.

We had the cops over for a pit bull (started with the dogcatcher but he got scared) that was roughing up our Lab, the .40 S&W didn't leave any holes in the ground and that was just with medium sized dog.

I have to edit that as not just a ladies CC. That gun, ammo and a cool head under duress makes the bad guys history wether your female or male. I have three girl friends that own them and have CC's with a 4th about to buy.
Careful there, I wouldn't go arming 4 girlfriends. What if they find out about each other? They might end up using those 380 for offense instead of defense.

I've got a Bersa Thunder 380 Deluxe. Nice shooting little gun, easy to carry. If I can do my part I got no doubt that it will do the job, the same holds true of any caliber though.

on the .38 special semi auto, Smith and Wesson made one, Model 52. Only reason I know is I saw it on an episode of American Rifleman today. Made it for match shooting. From '62 to '92 then the machinery used to make it broke and smith decided to stop making it. It's purty, sorta reminds me of a Sig P210.
