And the TK4/C5 that are the shortest. You don't have a C5 auto in your 89 do you?
The C5 wasn't offered in the '89 Bronco II's. Unless it was swapped in there sometime, it isn't possible.

The C5 was only offered in '83-'84.

Look at your transmission code on the door sticker. If it is a T, then you have an A4LD.

Info in the Tech Library says it needs to be cut which makes sense with d35 longer.but Thats what you pull it out of and its too long theres a reason and I would love to hear it.

Yes, the D35 is longer, but the shaft out of a D35 truck, also was too long....

Is there confusion as to what I did?

1) put in D35.
2) Stock slip-yoke shaft too long.
3) swapped in transfer case from D35 equipped truck, with driveshaft. It was 5-speed.
4)Got driveshaft from an Auto, it was identical to the Manual.
5) ended up cutting the shaft to fit the bronco.

I don't think there's any confusion as to what you did, the confusion is over why you had a problem.

Was your BII ever in an accident? Maybe you have a bent radius arm or radius arm bracket, which can cause the driveshaft to appear too long.

NAH, Reallly...?

Is why I asked... since he is swapping diffs, other things might not be stock... Notice my 1985 has a C5 in it...?

The part you asren't understanding is that UNLESS a D35 is paired with a 13-54 T-case there is NO stock driveshaft that will fit.

Your problem was that you were working on an '89.

a 1990 made 12-89 or later wouldn't have needed to be converted to a D35 because it would already have one, plus a 13-54 and the appropriate driveshaft to connect them.

Now even if you have a D35 and a 13-54...
If you have any trans other than a Mazda M5OD-R1, FM146 or A4LD it's SHORTER and ths the driveshaft would be too long

yes, it was an 89, with the old style t case, i converted it to the new style, because, after installing the D35, I realized that the old, spline style never seen a D35 in front of it.
-So-
I took the 1354(and driveshaft) out of a 91 ranger, with a d35, and installed in my truck. the shaft was too long. Tried ANOTHER shaft from a 92 Explorer, and it was identical to the first.
So I'm at a total loss. Oh well. New shaft is made, and will install tomorrow.

On an '89 trans, A4LD, M5OD-R1 or FM146 transmission it should all bolt right up.
If it did not I can only conclude that you have a non-original trans of one of
the OTHER types in there.

Hey, I've got a 1987 Ranger with a Mazda trans, a 13-54 manual T-case
and a Dana35 up front and a stock Explorer front driveshaft fits just fine...

I have an 87 with a Mazda trans, 1354 case, and D-28 up front and the same stock explorer front shaft fits mine well too.

So you must have a different trans.

Pics of trans?
