If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
I bought a Snap On thread chaser kit that I use all the time. It was under $100 at the time and has a lifetime warranty, I crushed the 5/16 coarse thread chaser die in my vise trying to hold it and it broke in 3 pieces. Free replacement. I snapped off a tap chaser in an intake manifold- which I then had to drill out- so all I had was 2/3 of the tap and that was replaced free, too. I recently bought a set of cobalt drill bits and it's a close second, I'd been sharpening my titanium bits every 2 or 3 holes while drilling stainless.

I think I may have that same kit. It's been priceless over the years. It also came with two thread files and I ended up buying the third. I have a broken piece or two in there... I just need to find someone I can give them to for an exchange.

In fact I have a bunch of broken Snap On... MAC... Matco... tools. I need to gather them up and get on that.

I think working on cars/trucks the single tool I wouldn't want to show up without would be my Power Probe.

3lb hammer. Don’t know how I lived life without it.

Surprised snap on warranty’s taps and dies. It’s a wear item you only get so many goes out of that kind thing.

My F-150.

If it fits it ships. It has hauled most of my Ranger home, most of my farm equipment, my camper, trencher to run a water line to the house, brush and fencing and deer... tailgate has been a workbench more than once. I would be lost without it, it's been there for just about everything in the 16.5 years I have had it.

@85_Ranger4x4, I'm guessing the 5.0 isn't stock? Which engine is that exactly? @Uncle Gump - which Power Probe model? I've been wishing for one.

My power probe is the most basic one they make. No voltmeter... no audibles. Just a basic tester.

If this one breaks I will probably just get a Power Probe III

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I'm lousy at picking favorites. Favorite tool, favorite movie, favorite food, favorite woman, Whatever. Really, I would have to say "my senses". Feel whether something is rough or smooth or loose or tight, etc. What's that new sound? Lifter, exhaust, stone in tire tread? Sight is especially important. And smell, too. Is that burning electrical or clutch?

It is exactly a heinz 57 hodge podge pushrod/windsor 302.
It's not a hodge podge, it just means you know enough about Fords to mix parts. My Mustang has an 86 Crown Vic roller cam block, 96 Explorer (GT40) heads, 77 Mustang II exhaust manifolds that I ported to fit the heads, among other things. The Chevy guys can just throw stuff together because they know it won't live long anyway.

You can buy good tools once or cheap tools over and over. The good ones won't break on Sunday afternoon and leave you stuck. I have an SK 1/2" breaker bar that I bought in the early 70's and a Snap On bar that I bought a few years ago at Carlisle on a rainy Friday for $50 from a guy who looked pretty depressed sitting their with his stuff under a plastic sheet. I don't remember the last time I used the SK.
