On my way to work I found a guitar by someone's trash can. I caught a glimpse of it driving by and turned around to see what it was as I thought it might have been one of them cheap rockband guitars that you can't even give away but it ended up being a Kalamazoo KG1 electric guitar. It's got some issues like the neck bridge is broken, missing part of a tuner knob, pick guard is cracked and missing a fret inlay. Based on the name and serial number it has ties to Gibson. From what I found it is a 1970's guitar. Can anyone tell me more about this at all? Here's some pics after I cleaned it up.

Really... No guitarists on the forum that can shed some light on this?

Looks good to me man. Looks like it needs a tuner key set, or that one repaired.
If it's made in USA it's most likely better than anything you'll find new.
Get you a little amplifier and some tuning keys and Toin it Up! :)

Tuners are kind of slick these days also, got one on ebay under ten dollars, works pretty darned well.
You can get strings there too

Seen in the news some guy got arrested for smashing several guitars in a music store.

the Judge asked him: "First offender?"

the guy replied, "Nope, first a Gibson, then a Fender!"

You go stand in the corner and think about what you've done.

Done some homework for ya, not sure why they put 1955 on your serial number, but doubt if it's a fact.
It's most likely the 74-75 Kalamazoo era
Here's a 1955 Gibson, and an 84, both are top of the line models. Also a parts photo and notepad supplement

I'd also recommend if you let someone else patch it up you keep the original tuner keys(machine head per the parts photo).
That things in fairly good shape, not scratched or scarred up, also recommend you hang on to it

Looking forward to seeing you on The Antiques Roadshow, Grand Ole Opry, and Madison Square Garden ;)

If it's not broken Don't Fix It!
No numbers on the body anywhere? Under the pickups maybe?

I play accoustic and all my acoustics have the serial number on the body of them not a removable part of it. Just my observation.

I play a mean ukulele... It’s mean to make people listen to it! I’ll try to post a video tomorrow.
