Auxiliary Reverse Lights

Okay, so I need more light coming off of the back of my truck...

The stock lights, as you know are horrible. Yes, reverse lights are really only indicators but I end up backing trailers at night quite often and really like not running into things with the trailer when I can't see anything.

A while back I mounted a couple of cheap O'Reilly lamps to my hitch receiver and aimed them back towards the back corners of the trailer - this helped a lot but I keep breaking them offroad

I'm basically looking for specific light suggestions as well as mounting suggestions. I would like to keep the truck looking as clean as possible. I am also not at all in to mounting lights on top of my bumper on the outside of the tailgate as I have seen some other members do. I'm looking for a lot of light output without buying a $700 led strip. Ideas? Possibly pull the plastic from the rear bumper and mount under that to keep it clean?

Why not mount them on the trailer?

Another option would be to cut holes in the bumper mount them inside with back cover and brush covers

That's what I was thinking too. If your visibility problem is while backing up while attached to a trailer then I think you need to be putting these lights on the trailer, not the truck.

I've thought about the same thing but I'd like to have them for backing to the trailer, backing the trailer itself, and for off-road backing in tight spots (rarely happens but can't hurt if I'm in a bind)

I've used a 4" rubber housing tractor light in that same location for ten years, with no problems. You just need a tougher, more resilient housing.

Maybe the key is just a tougher housing... I broke one when I slid my truck into a tree and broke the other dropping down onto the receiver.... I'm pretty inclined towards buying some of these: Click this!

I need lights everywhere! I want to make daylight in front of and behind the truck whenever I see the need to do so

Cut holes in the bumper, black grid brush guards would look nice with the red and black step guard
