Anyone tried to buy D35 gears lately?

So I've been going through the numbers on if to SAS or not. I was coming up with leaving the D35 in the front of the B2. Its from a 93 explorer if i remember right. Well I've searched everywhere and I cant find rev's rotation D35 513 gears other than these, and I have know idea if there actually available. Do these look right? The AMC part i'm not sure about. Yukon doesn't look like they make them any more. All the major gear brands aren't listing much.....

I'm really second guessing myself on weather to keep the D35 now. If I cant buy gears for it. I don't know if its worth putting money into it. I've always been a supporter of D35 swaps but parts availability has to be on our mines when we are building an off road rig..... so yeah...... Ive heard rumors of this on the facebook pages but until now I haven't looked so I thought i'd ask here.

That reads like the correct set for the Dana 35. I ran across a matching set of 5.13 for D35 and and 8.8 not long ago. Used but in good shape. I bought Them and stored them in the barn they do seem increasingly hard to find.

It depends how you’re going to use it. If you’re going to beat on it in off-road parks and technically difficult trails, the D35 is wimpy. But for most forest service roads and hunting camp duty, it can be fine.

If the d30 in front is fine on wranglers with huge tires, wouldnt the d35 be fine on a ranger?

It's the axle shafts. With tires larger than either 32" or 33", they have a habit of snapping while off roading on trails harder than intermediate and possibly even on some intermediate trails.

A lot of the Dana 30s sporting larger than 35” tires and surviving in harsh conditions are modified with stronger axle shafts, etc. Above 33” tires for Dana 30 and dana 35, you really need to start being more careful where you go and what you do. With that being said, I’ve been running 35s on a dana 35 TTB for years. I have broken several manual locking hubs. But no axle shafts so far. But the majority of my wheeling is intermediate or easier.

I should add; my truck just has the gutless 3.0l v6 and I’m only running a 4.56 ratio. So, not a torque monster setup prone to breaking stuff. It all depends on how you use it.

D30 Jeeps also tend to be lighter than RBV's too, there is nothing to a Wrangler and XJ and ZJ's are unibody.

It all depends on what you're doing. I've had 5.13's in my D35 for like 13 years with 35" tires, done the full circlip, clearanced the center joint and widened the window in the passenger beam and I haven't broken anything bad... I used to carry spare hubs and shafts but never needed one so haven't in a long time...

If you have torque and are throttle happy at full lock you will break shafts but that's true with about anything... I have a turbo 8:1 4 cylinder, I don't have bottom end torque and if the front gets airborn I'm usually in sand so I'm going fast enough to not be cranked. I don't play on rocks since I have a 8:1 compression ratio 4 cylinder with a manual trans... it will but it's annoying, I like high speed better...

Got 2 Jeeps with Dana 30s, they are good for up to 35" and that's it, I wouldn't run any bigger than that on the Ranger Dana 35 front either.

Why do you need 37" tires or bigger for that? You can do that with stock size tires.

It’s not always about “need”. Some people just “want” certain things.

Because I do and why do I need to explain it to you? I never asked what a D35 could handle. Or anything other than if anyone knew if d35 513 gears are available….. since you must give your .02 cents hear is why I need 513 gears. Because I’m running a OM617 5 cylinder diesel…..this diesel is not like other diesels. Its torque comes on at above 3k in rpm. Like more like around 35k. For big tires I need to go with deep gears. I really should go with a 538. But anyways plenty of people have had luck with 513s and 35s.
