I might be getting a strong running truck soon that needs some body work and a paint job. I have to do it cheap but I do not want to sacrifice quality and longevity. While looking for ideas on the interwed I found some videos of people rolling Rustolum on their vehicles. I am quite impressed by the results. But, how well does it hold up? I have seen cheap paint even with proper prep work give out and fade in a short amount of time. Does it hold up to buffing? I would like to have a wet clear coat look when done.

My friend painted his 85 Chevy with a roller then wet-sanded it. It looks great and has held up good

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
there is a kid in town that wants me to fix up my rust a bit and herculiner my whole truck like my old neighbor did. says if i buy the stuff he will do it.

but i have run with lots of house paint rigs that turned out real good. several i had no idea it was rolled on. quite impressed really. they put the satin type clear on that is hardened or something though. that my be the key.

but i see many shitty ones too...so look around a bit before you do it. one thing i dont like more then painting...is removing paint

I hope this isn't too late. Rustoleum Marine Topside. People roll in on their boats. That stuff dries hard as rock given days between coats and light sanding. You'll have one tough long lasting cheap paint job that shines. Don't apply too heavy or sagging will occur. You can add hardening agent from your automotive paint shop.

I did it three years ago. I used regular rustoleum. A mistake. Although it's hard and durable it fades quickly. A polish and wax lasts about 2 months on the gray. The white stays shiny all the time. Next time it will be with marine type paint.
