I've tried junk yards, performance shops, internet. Nobody seems to find an air intake system for a 3.0 1997 automatic ranger. The intake tube cracked and it's throwing off a number of sensors including the idle air control, EGR valve, the PCV valve. Big headache. Anyone have any suggestions?

Not even K & N offered an intake system.

Not even K&N offered a system. Only have it for a 4.0 or 2.3

You sure you need the "intake tube" and not something further downstream? I'd be surprised to see all those codes stemming from just a cracked intake tube. Could be coincidental.

Already replaced the parts

I replaced the parts for each code and they came back up the only thing left is the tube

i assume that you mean the rubber/plastic tube that goes from the air filter box to the engine. had a similar issue with the old protege. i didnt have the cash on hand for a new tube but i did have some electrical tape kicking around. took off the tube washed it because tape and dust dont mix well. then taped the hell out of it. it did the job until i found a used tube at the junkyard. it got the engine light and idle issues to go away.
it shoud do the job until you get a new one.

I have also looked for my 1995. They appear to be nonexistent. You could try to fix yours with epoxy or duct tape (ergo the name) or try bone yards or www.car-part.com

I love the site. Great stuff.

Love to hear if you found an air intake. Did you?

Does anyone know the year of the civic intake kit used in the article?

The link with the build for the custom unit.
the photo shows a metal MAF the 1995 that I have is plastic and is part of the cyndrical air box. it does not appear to be removable. is the 1997 the same as the 1995, if it is what MAF did you use??

On a side note, I just contacet Kurtz Kuztoms and they told me they may be making an MAF adapter plate after the 1st of the year for the 1995 3.0.

I see the factory ones around, just no aftermarket "performance" systems. I wonder how much power you really get without opening the choke point of the MAF sensor anyway. What does it matter what size the tube is if the MAF sensor chokes the flow. Does the larger tube increase the flow due to the Venturi principal?

That would be good news.
