Warlock is the original sports truck*, although it still had a useful payload capacity (Actually, the useable payload was part & parcel to both the Warlock and Lil Red Express packages - by going to GVWR over 6,100lbs, Dodge didn't have to meet light truck emissions i.e. no catalytic converters and Police Pursuit engines.)
Its possible.I think THIS was Ford testing the waters as competition to the 454SS trucks of the same era, and the precursor to the 1st gen Lightning.

F-150 Nite (1991–1992)[edit]
Sold from 1991 to 1992 on the Ford F-150 XLT Lariat, the Nite special edition was a monochromatic option package, featuring black paint and trim with a multicolor accent stripe. For 1991, it was exclusive to the regular-cab F-150; for 1992, it was available on all body styles of the F-150 and introduced on the Ford Bronco.
The Nite edition was available with two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive with either the 5.0L or 5.8L V8; it also included a sport suspension and alloy wheels on 235/75R15 white-letter tires.
Fords performance offerings IMO have always been kinda half assed or over the deep end - e.g. 427 SOHC, 427Fairlane GT, Boss 302/429 Mustangs.e tc
Hot Wheels just put out a "Valentine's Edition" but has dropped the OG version a few times over the years, they call it a '78
Sweet! I love the pipes. Those old trucks may not have been aerodynamic, but they were so light that they could easily make for a good 0-60 with the right engine. Also notice that the front end has been lowered.
I have also forgotten. The Ranger might be a little heavier than those old trucks, but it is still very light. A big engine version could have been quite popular.

Maybe a supercharger is a little much. Maybe a sports truck does not need to beat out a Mustang or a Corvette. Maybe just a small V8 or even a beefed up 6 would have sold to that theoretical "average driver."
The 427 was pretty rare and atleast from what ive read wasnt a HEMI by any means. The 429 mustang was cool untill you realize a 460 would of slid right in....you know...like GM did with 454's and mopar did with 440's.
