I was wondering since i am new to the independent front suspension what is in the front to drive the front wheels. i am sure it is some kind of Differential but how is it classified? and how exactly does it work. I want to put 4.56 gears in do i need to do my front also to stop any damage to my transfer case.

when changing gears on any vehicle with more than one differential you MUST change both diffs with the same gears.

Yes, regear front and rear.

The diff, (dana 35) is stationary. At the end of the "axle tubes" there is a CV joint. This transfers power to the front end. The cv allows the axle shaft to pivot along with the a arms.

Get rid of it.
