This last tank I've been averaging 24-25, prob 60/40 City/Hwy, that's pretty damn good right? No A/C or P/S, 16.3 gal tank, 3.45 gears, empty bed.

I get 24 mpg on the highway at 70 mph with my lifted 2wd 4.0 L supercab with roof rack/cargo basket, 33x12.4 BFG KO tires and a spare 33x12.5 and bed extender mounted in the bed. I run a 4.10 rear gear. I have a/c, p/s and I use it!!!

I get right at 26 consistantly. No a/c, no p/s, drop in K&N filter, thrush welded muffler, spark plug mod. I'm geared 3:73 (going to 4:10 in the near future, but i allready avoid interstates) I've gotten as good as 27, and as bad as 23 when helping my someone move.

Yeah?? So what's the secret?...I just put the first tank through my '96 2.3 automatic, 2wd, and got 16.7MPG!! That's worse than my 5.3 L. Yukon XL. Gimme some tips !! - I bought it for economy during hunting season.

Time what are you running for tires/wheels? Also has any maintenance, like a complete tune up? Also you do have an auto, which usually don't as good economy as a 5 speed.

It is an automatic, and I'm running the 235/75 R15, with Mazda looking rims. I'm not sure of the state of tune, since I've not messed with coil packs much. Only thing to replace here would be plugs and wires, right?
I thought about a K&N, an opened up exhaust and clean cat. More thoughts?
