95 explorer, 4.0, 2wd, o/d automatic.
You can back out of the driveway (with the engine hot or cold, doesnt matter), drop it into drive, and theres a 30% chance that it will take 5-6 seconds before it engages into drive, but it also goes into gear. Once it's in drive it will shift fine and doesnt slip at all. Drives perfect!
Then you put it in park and then drop back into drive and once again, it might 5-6 before it engages.
It has 265,000 miles on the orginal motor and transmission, but the motor and tranny have been prefect until this...
I'm going to change the fluid and filter and see if that helps (it's probably never been done), anybody else have any ideas?
We've had it for about 3 years, and put right at 65,000 mile so it and it's ran prefect...
