So are you going to covert to efi?
If I got an old Mustang I would convert it, my brother and I like going out the Mustang Rally in Sturgis. It would be nice to have EFI for altitude and maybe a little better mileage. If I got a 94-95 Mustang (half the price of an older one that I would prefer) it would be an upgrade to the factory HO intake they have.

I like the carb on my truck, it ain't going anywhere. For the stomping around it does it is great, no complaints. But it doesn't stray far from home either... Just for 10hr trips one way into kinda mountainous areas EFI would be nice to have on the car.

I still have the standard non-HO intakes off the engine in my Ranger... but if converting why not go whole hog you know?

I'm told the non ho intake will work.

I've got the whole efi setup from a 93 mustang. I'm only going gt40p heads because they don't have the egr holes in them that the nonP heads have, they tapped out of the manifold instead. However the P heads valve springs can't even handle the mustang cam .444 lift so that's why I have to rebuild them, may go with trick flow springs.

Yeah, no reason why the standard one wouldn't, extra power wouldn't be bad though.

Why not just plug the holes? I did that on my E7's and it worked great.

One less thing to worry leaking exhaust wise. Also the gt40p flow better I guess and leave room for improvement.

Guess I should ask how did you plug the exhaust holes?

Two short 5/8-11 bolts.

I know the GT-40P's are better than E7's but I didn't think there was a whole lot of difference vs straight GT-40's.

Difference is minut between the P and non.

It's the angle of the plug that's the real difference and the exhaust hole.

I may reconsider the gt40 instead. I have torque monster headers going on so I can run either head.

Should be good to go then, headers are the big headache that chase people away from the P's.

I stayed late last night and sandblasted the parts that haven't been cleaned and painted yet to finish up the PS of the axle.



I put the first order into Rockauto minus the brake line. That one was on clearance but coming from a different warehouse than most of the other stuff so its freight put it close one locally. I also see that it only goes to '85, '86+ are longer so we will wait and see how the one I replaced a couple years ago fits with the wider axle. Never heard of anyone having problems with brake lines though.

I have the spring for the C clip eliminator so I just need to do a little welding and I can start painting.

Progress!
Yup!

Supposed to be nice this weekend so hopefully I can make some progress on it.

Also supposed to be a snow storm moving in Monday and Tuesday so it might work out nice to rumble the truck into town and get gas since it has been on fumes since before Thanksgiving. Then if it doesn't get too bad (8-13" + 40mph wind) I can go play in the snow next week.

Drove it to work yesterday to get gas and this thing followed me for a ways. All I know is the butterflies move/work and it sounded like a V8. He didn't do anything and neither did I. Not the only game in town anymore...

Got a chuckle out of this, a Koyo bearing in a Timkin box. (Koyo is a Japanese company) No worries here, John Deere uses mostly Koyo bearings and they are as good as any.



Speaking of spindle bearings, anyone have any pointers on getting the old one out of the spindle?

So far the slidehammer won't touch it. I found a cute 3 jaw pilot bearing puller at Harbor Freight but the bearing is too close to the rib inside for the jaws to grab anything but the rollers themselves. They won't hold.

Companies don't use their own anymore, you are just paying for the warranty.
It struck me odd that they are both what I would call top quality name brands. It would be like Ford buying Silverados and putting F-150 badges on them.
