I have the 85 4x4 from my welcome post and a 84 RWD that have had parts switched around. To start the project off I picked up a 83 300 from a 2WD F-100. Got the non-plastic radiator with it and checking on a T-18/19 transmission for it as well. Have to work on a 15 Tahoe before I get to tackle this project. I want to start by dropping the tank and seeing what I need to do to fix the level sensor. Then I will start fitting the 300 in place. Expecting to have to shift the cab back for everything to fit. After that I have to figure out axles. I am leaning toward Dana 60's, but set on nothing yet. I wanted to just use a Dana 35 TTB, but too limited availability on gear ratios for it.

Not sure I6(300) will fit Ranger engine bay as is, length is 30-33"

The 302/5.0l V8 short nose is 27.5" and it barely fits

302 is 21" high, I6 28" high

So shift cab back and UP as well

Already has 4 inch body lift. Also looking at electric fan mounting options for a little added space up front. Of course, until I start putting it in place and actually seeing what is happening I have no clue exactly what is going to be needed. Not opposed to a little cab fabrication also if it doesn't interfere with anything .

There is at least one 300 in a ranger I've seen in this forum. There wasn't a lot of detail on how he shoehorned it in.

Yeah, did a lot of research about it when I first got the truck. Find a few threads here and there, but no real info or photos.
