Even if you build your own mounts you won't get it back any more than I did unless you cut out a good chunk of the floor and firewall. Mine is back until the heads almost touch the firewall and from there the rest of the top of the transmisson is almost touching the floor. You still need to cut the factory shifter hole bigger. Really that part of it isn't bad and cutting and rewelding the bottom of the shifter isn't bad either. I had a harder time getting the NP205 shifter to come though the floor in a good location.

you gotta grind a tab off, to get the Np208 to fit between the rail it tight but it fits and also if you gonna run a NP208 get the bronco version, it DOES NOT have the slip yoke like the F150 does.

as for the Np208 shifter, man mine hated me, with the AOD, and stock linkage, it ended up hitting the dash, so i shortened it,

mine came out about where the hole is on the DS tunnel ,when engaged in 2H, so i cut the floor a little bit and modified the stock cover plate, then i shorten it the stick(hit dash, think it came out good, but i may redo it with a stock 90s shifter, but it will work for now.
