My credo
Coming in second just makes you the first loser!
So my next door neighbor and I were talking and I mentioned the paint job and he just happens to have a buddy who paints for a living. We went and talked to him and he said he could paint my truck for $10k with minimal body work. That includes stripping the whole truck and fixing the one dent! He wouldn't give me a definite price without seeing the truck though. I'm hoping to have it all buttoned up and on the road by mid September to the begining of October. The drivetrain is completely finished, it's just all the little things now. It's taken a few years and about $12k but everything from the ground up is either new or rebuilt. I don't want to skimp on the paint at this point!

Unfortunately there are no more pick-n-pull yards around here. Insurance to cover people getting hurt out in the yard put a stop to them! I do have two new fenders so that's a start.
I went to pull parts on a winter day with about 10" of snow covering everything. I stepped on a couple of hoods and any number of other things, slipped, and tripped my way around...very dangerous, indeed!

That sounds like a very reasonable price, much more in line with everyday peoples' needs. The cool part is that you will be driving something very special: vintage, restored, and pretty close to brand new. Only a handful of people will ever understand you will be driving something in a class all unto its own.

Then again, who cares? You will be driving a real gem, and all for half the price of brand new.

Smart. Very smart.

You can totally paint it yourself. There's even rattlecans now made for doing half decent paint jobs. They have a super wide spray pattern. Use a handheld rattlecan grip and it'll stop finger fatique/runs. Wait a week, cut it with 1200 grit (wetsand) wax and grease then do as many coats of clear as you can

The issue is it needs to be stripped. The truck has been painted before and it’s split and cracked all over the place.
