The only two output shaft lengths are 4x4 and 4x2...any 3.0L M5OD should work as long as it's 4x4, heck, a 2.3L 4x4 M5OD would have the same parts if you are combining two anyway... (the front housing is different, but everything else is the same)

Is it maybe that on a 01+ reg cab short box ranger that the transmission is shorter so the T case isnt too close to the gas tank?

In your first post you said "and well i gotta get it rebuilt so i can have 4wd trans shop says theres two different length output shafts for my year" and in your recent post you said "So why would the guys at the trans shop say theres three output shaft lengths?". I think you're confused by what they said. I know that there are only two different shafts for that transmission. Either you have a 4x4 3.0 trans or you have a 2x4 3.0 trans. If they really did say that there are three different shafts for your transmission then please take it to another shop with a better reputation.
