Hey guys.
I got a 1997 2.3L 2WD, it has the 4R44E transmission in it. I haven't taken it apart before, or ever removed it. I'm trying to plan a 4WD conversion with a D30 front. Anyways, the point is, this transmission has two housings that bolt onto the back of the case, one for 2WD and one for 4WD.
The 2WD housing is just a cone, and it has a female splined hole in the back that a male splined shaft slips into, from the driveshaft, to account for bumps in the rear.
The 4WD housing has holes to bolt a BW 1354 up to it.
Pretty much, I'm hoping that I can just go to a graveyard and find a 4WD housing off a tranny and a t-case, bolt the housing and then t-case up to my tranny. I'm not sure if there's a difference between the output shafts of the two, or if there's an adapter, or what the deal is. I don't really wanna buy and mess with a new tranny, mine works fine. And I'm pretty lazy.
Yeah, just asking, in case anyone knows.
And if I have to replace the entire output shaft....
