28/31 spline 8.8 Same ring and pinion set?

"Gear sets are interchangeable between axles, regardless of the spline count. Differentials, however, are not.". ???

I have read so many forums with different answers for this but I want to know for sure.

I have a 28 spline 8.8 rear end from a ranger with 4.10 gears and a 31 spline rear end from an explorer. Are the ring and pinion sets the same? I'm wanting to use the 4.10 gears in my explorer axle. Thanks

Yes, ring and pinions are the same in all 28/31 spline 8.8's from mustangs to f150's.
