I remember the "thump" TSB that affected '98-'00 trucks (where Ford wastefully replaced whole entire driveshafts because of it)... Greasing the slip with CV grease invariably seemed to fix those (been maybe 7-8 years since I did my brother's '98, still fine). Is this something more recent? (possibly because the later shafts are aluminum? Seems I must've done a couple of them too, but I can't swear to it). :dunno:

I use the ptfe all the time as well for slip joints...mostly because it is what we have on hand. We dont keep cv joint grease on the shelf at our dealership. I am sure it would work fine.

I also always just used wheel bearing grease for the slip spline on my ttb when I had it apart...never had an issue with that.

Hopefully that one SMALL (3 oz.!!) tube will do it...???

Or get the 1 POUND can for less than $30 and share w/ local Ranger-buds??
