I bet they had it repainted. A brand new paint job isn't cheap either. That might explain the asking price. The advantage is that you get a brand new truck for half the price. Sure, you may need to replace that older engine someday, but the real value in this truck is clean body work. My concern would be the bottom side and the condition of the frame.

Not really half price- my truck with almost identical specs (before the options this doesn’t have- limited slip and step side) was 23,000 brand new. 18k for it is steep- that’s a 22 year old vehicle with an asking price nearly 75% of what it cost new

Not long ago, we were looking at a Bronco. The salesman asked about my Ranger and added that they sell old Rangers in just a matter of days. Everybody wants one. It seems. Why not? They're so much cheaper than new. And even the old ones still have a lot of life left.
